The 300 BLK round, when loaded supersonic, pushes a 110- to 125-grain bullet about 2,200 to 2,400 fps. This makes the perfect setup for a suppressed 300 BLK rig, too. When he sets up a feeder for hogs, he places two treestands (one for the shooter and one for the camera man positioned a little higher up the tree) within 20-30 yards.

Holmes is a big-time bowhunter and videos hunts for TV and marketing promotions for his product. His most popular scent blend is called 33 Point Buck, which is an attractant and scent eliminator. We were hunting just off the Mississippi River near Natchez, Miss., with Rex Holmes, the inventor and owner of Vapor Trail Scents. The camo-finished rifle has a Geisele two-stage trigger, 18-inch cold-hammer forged barrel and six-position buttstock.

I’m a big fan of the Ambush series of rifles from Daniel Defense - I personally hunt with a 6.8 SPCII version. My weapon of choice for this hunt was a Daniel Defense Ambush 300 BLK. I caught the suppressor bug the year prior when my home state of Alabama legalized suppressors for hunting. This was my first suppressed hunt and I’d been daydreaming about this opportunity for a while now. Moving my eyes up the barrel I was fixated on the beautiful SilencerCo suppressor firmly attached to the muzzle. I stared at the Daniel Defense Ambush rifle sitting in my lap. I was perched in a hang-on stand with a corn feeder 20 yards below me, and thankful for the thick forest canopy shielding me from the intense August sun. Keep looking. If it weren’t 95 degrees, with 90-percent humidity crowding my personal space, I would have sworn it was bow season in the Deep South. Lots of ways and good shooters to be had to achieve the stated goal. Caliber sized entry I had to hunt for and a 50 cent piece sized exit with nuthin but jelly in between. The 1st WTail buck, a 3 yr old with 9" spikes, I shot with the max loaded 9.3 Speer gave that 125lb young fellow a 35 foot magic carpet ride and rolled him up like a used rug.with ZERO meat damage. That speed duplicates the older 9.3x57 factory rounds and opens the selection of a whole host of great bullets like a 232 gr Norma or 250gr NAB or TSX, the normal 286's and even 300 gr'ers.and these are enough bullet for anything in NA and 90% of Africa at these speeds. I also shoot a 270gr Speer thin skinned game bullet out of a 9.3圆2 near max loaded at 2450/2500fps that could be slowed down aka quieted down some in the 21-2200 fps range that is devasting on WTails out to over 200 yards so far without using a BPlex in my Burris yet. That research is what led me to a 6.5x55 Swede and a 260 in the world of deep penetrating and hyper accurate long range 264 bullets without the magnumitis "OWIE" on my lame shoulder that will eventually replace my 45 year love affair with the 270 WCF. Some years back when I was concerned with recovering from a crippling neck & shoulder surgery, the sub 2k loads in 300 Savage I found were very doable out to 150-200-250 yards for impact energy and drop. I would seriously consider looking at a downloaded 300 Savage out of a bolt gun using flat nosed 30-30 bullets at 30-30 speeds.
